Justin Rose wins PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic

Justin Rose wins PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic Rose, who entered the week ranked ninth in the world, completed a 7-under 65 in the rain-delayed third round and closed with a 66 at TPC Louisiana near New Orleans for his seventh PGA Tour title. Playing aggressively on a soggy course, Rose made six birdies in the final round and played the last 66 holes without a bogey. Boo Weekley, who led after the first round, finished third at 20 under, and Jim Herman and Jason Day, ranked sixth in the world and who will also play at Harding, tied for fourth at 19 under. The winners finished at 19-under 159 in the 54-hole event, opening Thursday with a better-ball 63 on Buffalo Ridge’s regulation Springs course and shooting a 51 on Saturday in high wind on the par-3 course. Wu Ashun became the first Chinese player to win a European Tour title on home soil when he beat David Howell by one stroke to capture the Volvo China Open in Shanghai. The 29-year-old Wu, who plays primarily on the Japan Tour, was the steadiest player in the final round, making two birdies to just one bogey to card a 71 and finish at 9-under 279. Howell missed a 5-foot par putt on the 18th to force a playoff.
