Authorities investigate social media post about Moore High School

FROM STAFF REPORTSMOORE — Authorities are investigating a tip made to Crime Stoppers over the weekend involving a threat at Moore High School, school officials said Monday. The Moore Police Department received a Crime Stoppers tip that someone had observed a social media comment asking “when is (student’s first name) going to shoot up the school,” according to school district officials. The post reportedly was made on a Moore High School section of a social media app, said Dustin Horstkoetter, director of safety and security for Moore Public Schools. Police have not been able to find the threatening post, school officials said, but continue to investigate. The school district had additional security at Moore High School on Monday as a precaution, Horstkoetter said. “We’re going to do everything we can to ensure the safety of our students and staff, and I believe that we did that successfully today,” Horstkoetter said. Moore High School Principal Mike Coyle wrote a letter to parents and guardians addressing the threat and another incident, which Coyle said was unrelated. Horstkoetter said a student saw a BB gun pistol on a school bus on Friday.Read more on NewsOK.com
