Vogelsong rebounds in Giants’ third consecutive shutout win The Giants are enjoying one of those enviable stretches when they welcome all comers and win. After shaving off his Viking beard, Ryan Vogelsong trimmed a load off that bloated ERA with seven dominating innings in Tuesday night's 6-0 skedaddle over the Padres. The five starters have a 0.98 ERA over 36 2/3 innings during the winning streak, which began after the Dodgers torched Vogelsong for six runs in three innings last Wednesday in Los Angeles. Coming off a four-homer mess of an outing, Vogelsong was better from the get-go, commanding his fastball with a sharper curve and holding San Diego to three singles in seven innings. The Padres swung as though they had a plane to catch in a nine-pitch first inning and 10-pitch second. The Giants dirtied up Andrew Cashner's ERA in one of their best offensive games of the season despite Angel Pagan and his .350 batting average on the bench with an injured finger on his left hand. The Giants also got RBIs by Brandon Crawford, Matt Duffy (as McGehee's replacement) and Justin Maxwell as they romped to a 5-0 lead against Cashner by the third inning. Justin Maxwell and Duffy, who started in place of McGehee and Pagan, produced runs in a two-run first inning against Andrew Cashner. Maxwell singled home Brandon Belt, who hit a leadoff double, and Duffy got Crawford home with a soft grounder to third that resulted in a force at second, but no double play with Duffy's speed running to first.
