A recent poll conducted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in partnership with the Texas Small Business Development Centers found that finding the right employees ranked as the top concern affecting small businesses' ability to grow. Spend enough time with candidates to get a real sense of their qualifications, capabilities and personalities. Offering the best possible salary and benefits you can afford is of course important, but other factors also can be appealing, such as having the tools they need to do quality work, professional development opportunities, flexible schedules and an attractive workspace.
