The American Petroleum Institute has started running statewide radio ads and making robo-calls this week in hopes of beating back an anticipated fracking tax proposal by Senate Republicans. Senate President Keith Faber, R-Celina, has said an increased severance tax on shale fracking is likely to be included in the Senate-passed version of the two-year, $71.5 billion budget.
