LAKE CITY, Fla. (AP) — Two boaters have been injured after sturgeon jumped out of the Santa Fe River and struck them. Wildlife officials say Colleen Harvey, 42, and her husband Charles, 41, were taken to the hospital after being struck by the sturgeon Friday night. Their condition is not known. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials say low water levels are causing the sturgeon to jump more frequently than in recent years. Officials suggest that everyone wear their life jackets and stay off the bow of the boat to avoid further injuries from the jumping fish.
