Economic Report: U.S. runs first trade surplus with Canada since 1990

The U.S. ran a trade surplus with Canada in May for the first time since 1990, the result of a stronger dollar and less demand for foreign petroleum amid an explosion in domestic oil production. Yet despite the positive balance with Canada, the U.S. trade deficit rose 2.9% in May.
