Kenya Barris is co-writing the Shaft reboot. The Black-ish creator will be sharing writing duties with Alex Barnow, executive producer and writer on The Goldbergs, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Barnow and Barris have worked together before on a currently untitled comedy about a character who's haunted by Ice Cube's voice. The reboot is being produced by Jon Davis who's responsible for producing Guy Ritchie's upcoming take on Man from U.N.C.L.E., as well as the Victor Frankenstein re-imagining. Tonally, this version of Shaft is reported to be an action-comedy, unlike the grittier take on the material in Samuel L.
