Disguised metro Atlanta police crackdown on texting drivers

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — A metro Atlanta police department is using disguised officers to try catching drivers who are texting behind the wheel. WSB-TV reported (http://bit.ly/1JwfYtQ) that Marietta police officers dressed as construction workers on Wednesday were monitoring drivers at a busy intersection to bust motorists who were texting on the road. Marietta Police Officer Nick Serkedakis says the tactic helps officers get close enough to drivers' cars to determine whether they're texting or using their phones while driving. Serkadakis says officers also spoke with drivers who used their phones while they were stopped at red lights. ___ Information from: WSB-TV, http://www.wsbtv.com/index.html
