Woman in accused of starving more than 100 animals

MOSS LANDING, Calif. (AP) — A woman in Northern California is being investigated for having more than 100 starved animals on a cluttered piece of land with no access to food or water. The Monterey Herald reports Sunday (http://bit.ly/1Sxdp06 ) that Monterey County animal welfare officers arrived at the property in the town of Moss Landing and discovered a "horrific scene of animals." Beth Brookhouser of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Monterey County says officials went to the property after receiving an anonymous call reporting dead and dying animals. Brookhouser says the animals rescued include calves, cows, goats, sheep, hens, ducks, piglets, dogs and kittens.
