LEEDS, N.D. (AP) — A new business in northern North Dakota is turning bison waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer that can be used for landscape, turf, garden and houseplant applications. In June, the business received a $135,000 award from the North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission, and it recently learned it has been approved for the Pride of Dakota Holiday Showcase. The business has worked with the North Dakota State University Extension Service in developing the fertilizer, allowing it to further its mission of producing an environmentally friendly soil that reduces the need for inorganic fertilizers.
