By William Crum Staff Writer wcrum@oklahoman.comThe Oklahoma City Council on Tuesday adopted a policy for police use of body-worn cameras, clearing the way for a pilot project testing 100 cameras to begin. The city's initial steps into use of cameras appeared likely to begin with a disagreement between police administrators and the police union over standards for review of footage. There is all-but-unanimous agreement, though, among city leaders and leadership of the Fraternal Order of Police that the technology is valuable and should be deployed. FOP President John George strongly emphasized officers support the body cameras initiative, which required four new police department positions and could grow to include 700 cameras. The policy adopted by the council is a single paragraph.
