The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investing in managed cybersecurity services, an important early step in the federal government's push to protect agency data from cyber threats. Near the end of September, the agency announced it was awarding Waltham, Massachusetts-based Raytheon Co. (NYSE: RTN), whose cybersecurity operations are based in Dulles, a $1 billion contract to help monitor potential cyber threats to ".gov" traffic and secure those networks.
