<p>Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez will visit with Gawker staff on Friday for a town hall-style question-and-answer session.</p><p>In <a href="http://www.capitalnewyork.com/article/media/2015/06/8569365/gawker-goes-union">June,</a> Gawker became the first online-only media site to vote to unionize, joining the Writers Guild of America, East union. Perez reached out to Gawker for the meeting, his spokesperson said, adding that he wants to "talk to them and hear the story about how and why they started to organize."</p><p>The meeting is a tie-in to the White House's Summit on Worker Voice on Wednesday, where Gawker writer Hamilton Nolan, who helped spearhead the union drive, spoke as part of the panel "Millennials Finding Their Voice.” </p><p>In a memo to staff, special projects editor Alex Pareene said staff should prepare questions for Perez and that the site will be videotaping the town hall for their publications.
