SYRACUSE, NY—Documenting intense activity in the pleasure centers of subjects’ brains, a study published Thursday by neuroscientists at Syracuse University has found that unleashing anger in unhealthy and inappropriate ways is among the most satisfying experiences a person can have. “Our extensive research has found that lashing out at a coworker in the workplace over a long history of perceived slights or bottling up festering rage until it leads one to smash an item made of glass typically leads to feelings of exhilaration and even euphoria,” said lead author Diana Kunz, adding that cursing at the top of one’s lungs, banging a table top with balled-up fists so that everything on it shakes, and slamming doors on the way out of a room consistently produced high levels of self-satisfaction across all demographics.
