Summit Metro Parks is starting to install new colorful trail signs of recycled plastic

The Glens Trail at the Gorge Metro Park between Akron and Cuyahoga Falls is well-known for the icicles hanging from cliffs.The Old Mill Trail at Furnace Run Metro Park in Richfield Township is the site of an old mill.The Mingo Trail at Sand Run Metro Park in northwest Akron is named after a Native American tribe.Those images are part of the new and colorful markers to be installed along hiking trails by Summit Metro Parks.A total of 14 of the park district’s 46 trail icons have been altered, said park spokeswoman Lindsey Smith.The other 32 trail icons will be reviewed and could be changed in the coming years, she said.The new signs have been installed on the Downy Loop Trail at Wood Hollow Metro Park in Hudson and on the Maple Loop Trail at Liberty Park in Twinsburg.
