Nurses from Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and Stanford Hospitals and Clinics have said they are prepared to call a strike after failing to reach a deal with hospital administrators over wages and benefits. As of Wednesday, the union has not issued a formal declaration of a strike, as required by law, which would give the hospitals 10 days notice to prepare for any action.
