Battleship New Jersey wins grant for energy-efficient lights

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — The World War II battleship New Jersey is about to get 2,500 new, energy-efficient light fixtures thanks to a $383,420 federal grant approved by state regulators. The state Board of Public Utilities on Wednesday approved the grant for the LED fixtures that will save Home Port Alliance, the firm that manages the ship, $30,000 annual in energy costs. The ship, which saw service in the Marshall Islands in 1944, won nine battle stars in World War II, four in the Korean War and two in Vietnam, as well as the Navy Unit Commendation. The ship now serves as museum and is docked in Camden.Read more on NewsOK.com
