Parents turn to hospital to stunt the growth of severely disabled children

At 9 years old, Ricky Preslar is about the size of a 4-year-old, his diminutive frame the result of genetics, health problems and a decision his parents made to have his growth stunted because of concerns about the future of their severely disabled child. Over 2½ years, Ricky was given doses of estrogen in a medical intervention prescribed by a Children’s Hospital Colorado endocrinologist.
