BottleRock: Florence + the Machine, Oklahoma City Thunder no match for Warriors

Death Cab for Cutie, Florence + the Machine and the Oklahoma City Thunder were no match for the Warriors on Saturday. During a tense Game 6 of the NBA’s Western Conference finals, Golden State pulled off a 108-101 victory over OKC — a win that many of the 40,000-plus BottleRock festivalgoers tuned into at the Napa Valley Expo despite blaring live music surrounding them. No matter how musty inside the space, these fans were glued to nine screens, including a giant projection on one of the walls that displayed fuzzy images. If I could be there in Oaklahoma City I’d be there right now,” said James Tatom of Napa, who was sweating through his Klay Thompson jersey, “but to be around so many dedicated fans and such a wonderful atmosphere with BottleRock, it’s not a bad spot to be in. During commercial breaks, fans wearing The City hats, “Strength in Numbers” shirts and throwback jerseys, roared “Waaaarrriors” as if they were cheering on their team at Oracle Arena. Despite protest, public safety officials decided to shut down the pop-up bar for the remainder of the game due to capacity concerns, said Justin Dragoo, a partner with Latitude 38 Entertainment that produces BottleRock. Even the massive crowd at the JaM Cellars stage for the night’s headliner, Florence + the Machine, began to celebrate, baffling frontwoman Florence Welch (who was actually wearing Warriors yellow during the band’s set). The 7-point win force the two teams into an elimination match at home at Oracle Arena on Memorial Day.
