The Friends of 88.5 FM campaign has reached a deal with Pacific Lutheran University to buy Puget Sound-area public radio station KPLU for $7 million and $1 million in underwriting announcements. The grassroots effort launched a fundraising campaign earlier this year after learning of an $8 million deal between the University of Washington and Pacific Lutheran University to merge the station with Seattle’s KUOW.
