From Staff ReportsEducation Young Democrats Allyson Kelton, of Mustang, and Parker Strubhar, of Piedmont, are the 2016 winners of $500 scholarships awarded by the Canadian County Democrats. The scholarships are named in honor of the late county vice chairman Robert “Bob” Burton, who encouraged young Democrats to become active in the party, according to a news release. Kelton is a sophomore studying biomedical engineering at the University of Oklahoma. She is active in mission work with the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon and participates in service projects as a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Voted “most likely to succeed” by his Piedmont High School classmates, Strubhar participated in many school activities. He is now an OU sophomore pursuing a degree in linguistics.Read more on NewsOK.com
