Court Strikes Down Virginia Order Restoring Voting Rights to Ex-Felons

Virginia’s state Supreme Court ruled Friday that Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s executive order restoring the voting rights of more than 200,000 ex-felons violated the state’s constitution. The 4-3 decision follows the controversial executive order signed by McAuliffe in April, which granted voting rights to ex-offenders who had completed their prison sentence as well as their term of supervised probation or parole.
