Remembering Agnes Nixon and her impact on soap operas

Agnes Nixon, who died at the age of 93 Wednesday, was at once a TV institution and TV change agent. Fifty years ago, the so-called queen of soaps launched a pair of shows -- "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" -- that dragged the soap industry straight from the 1950s squarely into the heat and tumult of the late 20th century.
