Lynn Edward Benton waived his right to a sentencing phase with a jury Tuesday and instead agreed to accept a true life sentence, court documents show. Benton was found guilty by a jury Friday of aggravated murder, criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated murder and attempted murder in the death of Debbie Higbee Benton in Gladstone.
