Denver City Council members want a 29 percent budget increase to expand their offices

When the Denver City Council votes on the city’s proposed $1.9 billion budget for 2017 next month, among the changes it likely will approve is a 29 percent increase in spending for the council’s own operations. Tucked in Mayor Michael Hancock’s budget proposal is a $1.3 million increase in the council budget, largely intended to pay for more aides and outreach activities in members’ offices.
