A jury handed a 32-year prison term to Darnell Rogers for aggravated assault of a police officer after hearing testimony about his behavior in jail. The charge stemmed from a shootout with deputy constables on Sept. 18, 2015, that began when he fired at one of the officers chasing him in the 3800 block of East Southcross Boulevard on the Southeast Side, according to testimony in the trial that began last week.
