Lionsgate's live-action Power Rangers movie, which opens in theaters today, will serve as the first in a six-film story that could also expand to even more films that aren't direct sequels. Power Rangers producer Haim Saban recently told Variety they "already have a six-movie story arc" planned, which director Dean Israelite has since reaffirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Before he even signed on to helm the film, Israelite said the team at Saban Entertainment already "had a document that laid out six movies." He told EW he's confident there won't be a shortage of ideas for future films, saying, "We just haven’t had the time to really sit down and talk about the full six, but there's no doubt there is enough material for it, absolutely no doubt that the franchise could be that big."
