Paul Taylor and his company, of which The Chronicle once wrote “the American spirit soars whenever Taylor’s dancers dance,” returns to the Bay Area to showcase its talent at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Presented by S.F. Performances, the Paul Taylor Dance Company will do three programs that include works ranging from 1971 (“Book of Beast”) to the 2017 “The Open Door,” a West Coast premiere. Taylor, 86, has been artistic director of the company he founded for more than 60 years. According to a statement, Paul Taylor Dance is “a stunning burst of momentum and a cascade of emotion, moving powerfully and powerfully moving.”
