Seen: Le Bal de Ballet honors debutantes and young men of distinction

There’s no denying that debutante balls once were nothing more than vehicles for introducing young women to prospective husbands. But that was then and this is now. Today, events like Le Bal de Ballet raise money for worthy causes while celebrating the good grades, leadership skills and career ambitions of local teens. The 40 debutantes and 29 Young Men of Distinction presented at the 2017 Le Bal de Ballet included several whose grades were good enough to win admission to such prestigious institutes of higher learning as Juilliard, Colgate, Cornell, Duke, Dartmouth, Boston University, New York University and two military academies. Young Man of Distinction Matthew Bainbridge, for example, is a National Merit Scholar who graduated with honors and academic letters from Cherry Creek High School and will attend Drake University on a Presidential Scholarship. Debutantes Lyndsey Benes and Caitlin Vickers, both graduates of Kent Denver School, will be heading to Scotland to enroll at the University of St.
