Punch List: In the last week of July, you’re making your first harvest in the Colorado garden

In the Landscape Pinch the flower buds off mums until mid-July to create more branching and prevent summer blooming. Use scissors to cut back an inch or two down from the unopened bud. Cut right above a set of leaves. Stay on top of weed removal by digging or spot spraying, or try pouring boiling water or horticultural vinegar between stones, being careful not to splash on other plants. Tree seeds are prolific this season, including Siberian elm, ash, maple, tree of heaven and lindens.
