Funeral service set for Colorado Springs auto shop owner killed in apparent robbery

A funeral service for George Maldonado, an auto shop owner who killed in an apparent robbery, will be held Monday. The service takes place at 1 p.m. at Rocky Mountain Calvary, 4285 N. Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs. Maldonado was killed July 13 at Full Throttle Auto Service, 305 N. Chelton Rd. He is survived by his wife, three sons, a daughter and two grandchildren. A suspect in the slaying - identified as Derrick Davis, 59 - was arrested Monday at a motel in Bloomington, Minn., police said. Police had sought two men caught on videotape at Full Throttle. Police said the men apparently used a green or blue Dodge Ram 1500 with extended cab, tinted windows and oxidation on the hood and roof. Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
