Few had their stories told, but a fictional comic strip, "The Chisholm Kid," paid homage to these young men in the comic pages of the Pittsburgh Courier starting in 1950. The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum will celebrate The Chisholm Kid as part of its tribute to the 150th anniversary of the Chisholm Trail and as part of this year's National Day of the Cowboy celebration at the museum. The Chisholm Kid is considered the first black Western comic-strip hero, and he was among the first black heroes to appear in a comic strip.Read more on NewsOK.com
