Dave Cathey Rick Bailey, longtime owner of the legendary Nomad restaurant, will open Sussy's Eatery and Spirits in Bricktown by middle of October, if not a hair earlier. The Nomad, of course, was the last restaurant opened by infamous local restaurateur Jack "Sussy" Sussman, who introduced pizza to Oklahoma City and owned a number of local restaurants between the late 1940s until his death in 1980. That’s when the Bailey family approached the Sussman Family Trust and purchased the restaurant and has owned it ever since. Bailey said in a phone interview Monday the new place will offer about 65-percent of the Nomad menu plus some additions. “We’ll have all the pizzas plus a few new ones,” he said. Bailey said the restaurant will offer counter service for food and full service at the bar. “That way if you want to run in and get some pizza before you go to the Thunder game or the show, you can get in and out quickly.” But those who want to choose from among the 50 bottles of wine Sussy’s will offer can take their time and relax with a meal of steak, fried chicken, or pasta.Read more on NewsOK.com
