First major U.S. retrospective of the House of Dior coming to Denver in 2018

It’s been a little over five years since the Denver Art Museum’s blockbuster “Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective.”–So Denver audiences should be primed for the news of the institution’s next huge fashion event. The Denver Art Museum on Thursday announced it will host the U.S. debut of “Dior: From Paris to the World,” an exhibition that surveys more than 70 years of the House of Dior’s “enduring legacy and its global influence,” according to a press statement. The exhibit, which is scheduled to land in November 2018, will include an eye-popping 150 haute couture dresses along with accessories, photographs, original sketches, runway videos and other archival material that will trace the history of the world-renowned fashion house. ” ‘Dior: From Paris to the World’ will give our visitors insight into the House of Dior’s creative process and inspirations that contributed to its unparalleled impact on the fashion world, which continues to reverberate today,” Christoph Heinrich, the Frederick and Jan Mayer director of the Denver Art Museum, said in the statement. The exhibit includes a comprehensive profile of Dior and his fashion house’s esteemed line of artistic directors, including Yves-Saint Laurent (1958-1960), Marc Bohan (1961-1989), Gianfranco Ferr– (1989-1996), John Galliano (1997-2011), Raf Simons (2012-2015) and Maria Grazia Chiuri (2016-present). Refreshingly, “Dior: From Paris to the World” also will highlight both North and South American patrons’ “vital role in helping establish the House of Dior’s global presence,” according to the museum.
