Paralyzed high school wrestler remains in ICU; GoFundMe account launched

A Pleasant Hill high school wrestler is currently paralyzed from the neck down and remains in intensive care after suffering a spinal injury during a junior varsity match Jan. 10, officials said. Ryan Joseph, a 16-year-old sophomore at College Park High School, suffered an injury to his neck that left him unable to breathe on his own, school athletic director Jim Keck said. A teammate said that the injury happened after he was pinned during a match. “One second he was standing and the next he was on his back and when the guy got off of him after pinning him, Ryan couldn’t get up and he said he couldn’t move,” said Kristin Tubbs, a senior at College Park.
