The year 1967 was tumultuous. The Vietnam War raged on, The Beatles released “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” and race riots broke out in the streets. Meanwhile, in Colorado, Romano’s opened up in Littleton and Lola and Paul Weiner purchased the year-old Bagel Deli on Colfax Avenue. More than 50 years later, we still have wars and race riots, The Beatles are still the best-known band in the world, and Romano’s and the Bagel Deli are still going strong (although the latter is now in a different location).
