PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Major David Lapatin said police were called “to the water” after a person walking saw what they believed to be a man floating in the river near Dyer St..Providence firefighters went into the water and floated the body into a boat before removing the man, Lapatin said.Lapatin said the body appeared to have been in the water for “more than a few hours,” but declined to describe the condition of the body.
