Nichole (Buckholtz) Burcal was a 17-year-old junior sitting in the Thurston High School cafeteria when she heard popping sounds and thought it was some kind of class prank. Soon enough, she realized: "Holy crap, he's shooting at us." Her oldest son now is set to graduate from Thurston in a few weeks.
