Crystal Lake School District 47 Board OKs new director of dual language, assistant principal

Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 will have two new leaders this upcoming school year. The board approved Kari Keith as new director of the dual language and English language learner programs Monday, as well as Aaron Knoth as assistant principal for Hannah Beardsley Middle School. “Kari has a tremendous amount of knowledge and best practices related to dual language and ELL,” Scott Kubelka, District 47 assistant superintendent of student learning, said in a statement. “She is student-focused and eager to collaborate and support the efforts of our staff, as well as build upon quality programs that continue to be a source of pride for our district.” Keith has served as principal at Churchill Elementary School in Glen Ellyn, as well as director of the English language learner program for Community School District 200 in Wheaton. The District 47 dual language program serves about 1,000 students across the district. “I am looking forward to partnering with the staff and community of D-47 to support and grow the learners of today to become leaders tomorrow through the dual language and English language learner programs,” Keith said in a statement. The board also approved the appointment of Knoth as assistant principal at Hannah Beardsley Middle School. Knoth will replace Carolyn Stadlman, who recently was named the district’s new director of math, science and STEM studies. Knoth also will oversee the district’s Title I and Title III summer school programs as principal. “He brings strong instructional leadership experience, an enthusiastic ‘can-do’ attitude and a commitment to innovation and student-centered learning to serve the HBMS community,” Hannah Beardsley Principal Cathy Alberth said in a statement. Knoth has spent his 11-year education career in District 47. “I’ve spent my entire career in District 47, so I know where we’re headed,” Knoth said in a statement. Knoth will earn $73,663.27, Stadlman will earn $96,082.53, and Keith will receive $115,806.15, District 47 spokeswoman Denise Barr said.
