Like many things in the Rocky Mountain West, the fortunes of the oil and gas industry are vital to the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale. They may seem odd companions — the natural resources sector, while a pillar of the regional economy, dragging its muddy boots into a painting and sculpture show acclaimed for its career-making influence. But look closer, curator Rose Fredrick said, and you’ll see how naturally they coexist, as do so many things at the National Western Stock Show. “If you look at the price of oil and gas and you look at the stock market, that’s how our show goes,” said Fredrick, who this year is curating her 23rd exhibition on the third floor of the National Western Complex.
