Hawkins man charged with stalking after 100 phone calls in two hours

ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man was charged with stalking Saturday after being accused of calling a woman approximately 100 times in less than two hours early Friday morning after following her the previous day. Shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Hunter Lamons responded to a harassment complaint made by a 19-year-old woman. The woman stated that Jeremiah Jesse Burton, 22, 145 Timberlake Drive, Rogersville, had called her approximately 80 times since midnight, and had made threats to come flatten the tires on her vehicle. Lamons stated in his report that he observed where Burton had allegedly called the woman 70 times from his own number, and another 10 times from a blocked number. While Lamon was taking a statement from the woman, Burton allegedly called again and Lamon witnessed her tell Burton, "she did not want to speak to him and to leave her alone." After that call ended Burton called the woman 20 more times from his number and a blocked number. The woman stated that Burton followed her to Walmart the previous day, and she feared that Burton would come to her residence and harm her. Burton was arrested at his home Saturday morning around 11:30 a.m.
