The Survivor Tree is the American elm that withstood the 1995 terrorist bombing that destroyed the Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. A sapling grown from Survivor Tree seeds will be planted in Scissortail Park on Friday, the 24th anniversary of the bombing. Former Mayor Mick Cornett first brought up the idea of including a Survivor Tree in the park around 2010, early in the planning.
