The annual end-of-season dinner concert at the Gold Hill Inn, 10 miles west of Boulder, is the stuff of Colorado legend: a famous singer-songwriter, a log cabin and an old mining town. It happens a few nights before Christmas, snow falling or not, the fireplaces crackling and whiskey flowing from the bar. There’s a homemade buffet and, if you’re lucky, it ends in sour cream apple pie. Tickets to the “night before Christmas Eve” event always sell out fast, so I haven’t experienced it firsthand.
