An axe-throwing club opened next door to Denver’s biggest haunted house

The axe-throwing craze carving its way through Denver’s nightlife scene has gotten a sharp new competitor this month. Class Axe Throwing, which is run by Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group — the company behind the Denver Zombie Crawl — has opened next to the 13th Floor haunted house at 3400 E. 52nd Ave. While Class Axe offers most of the same amenities as existing spots such as Bad Axe Throwing and Downtown Axe Room, it’s also betting that proximity to the company’s themed events will entice newbies to try the trendy, loosely defined leisure activity and growing league sport. Class Axe offers lessons from “trained experts as they show fans how to safely handle an axe and throw it with accuracy at the targets,” according to a press statement, which promises one trained expert per group.
