Rise of Skywalker: Palpatine's Throne Resembles Unused ROTJ Design

The final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker included many cool and curious images in it, not the least of which is a shot of Emperor Palpatine's throne. As Phil Szostak -- Lucasfilm creative art manager, cineaste & author of The Art of The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Rise of Skywalker -- pointed out on Twitter after the trailer dropped, the throne seen in the final trailer resembles concept art for The Return of the Jedi. Szostak tweeted images comparing the Rise of Skywalker's throne with 1981 artwork by conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie depicting Palpatine and Darth Vader. Continue reading…
