State representative backs bill to tackle electoral conflicts of interest

In light of recent corruption charges against Illinois elected officials, state Rep. Mark Batinick, R-Plainfield, is supporting legislation to ensure members of the Illinois State Board of Elections aren't funding political action committees. The bill, H.B. 3963, which Batinick is co-sponsoring, would prohibit a member of the State Board of Elections from also contributing to or being an officer of a state or federal political committee, according to a news release. Republican senators introduced similar legislation, S.B.
