By Dave CatheyFood editor dcathey@oklahoman.comSince the onset of the coronavirus threat, weekends have been unkind to local grocery store shelves.Because that’s unlikely to change in the coming weeks, support has emerged from other food service professionals."We're doing all we can here to help out during this time," said Amy Ealy, who works for FreshPoint Oklahoma, a wholesale distributor.A subsidiary of Sysco Foods, FreshPoint continues to support local restaurants and commercial kitchens through the COVID-19 threat, but is now helping relieve the burden from our grocery stores by offering fresh produce, milk and eggs to the public.“Over the past couple of days, our team at FreshPoint Oklahoma has worked hard to figure out a way to help out the public as well,” Ealy said.The answer was to provide an alternative for people looking for essentials.FreshPoint, 3100 N Interstate 35 Service Road, is offering five Grocery To Go boxes.Read more on NewsOK.com
