Judge denies lawsuit challenging San Francisco's permanent Covid-19 eviction ban

San Francisco Superior Court on Monday struck down a legal challenge by real estate trade organization to a new, permanent city eviction moratorium aimed at protecting tenants unable to pay rent as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.   The order, issued by Judge Charles Haines, found that the city is within its rights to regulate the reasons for which tenants may be evicted.   The measure’s opponents, who included the San Francisco Apartment Association, argued in a lawsuit filed in June that…
