Port of Seattle to pay $2M to scooter rider injured in airport shuttle mishap

The Port of Seattle and its insurer have agreed to pay $2 million to a mobility scooter rider from Mason City, Iowa, to settle a lawsuit filed after the man and his machine were sent flying inside an airport shuttle bus when the operator of the vehicle failed to secure it before driving off. The settlement and payment to William and Mary Lou Britven will be publicly approved by the five elected Port of Seattle commissioners at their next meeting on Oct.
